Is farm loan waiver simply for votes?

Defending farm loan waiver, senior Congress leader and former Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram on Friday said freeing farmers from debt was imperative due to agrarian crisis across the country.

Few days back, Congress president Rahul Gandhi promised a nationwide waiver of farm loans if voted to power in the 2019 general elections.
