The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and all other parties seemed unhappy with the final list of Assam's National Register of Citizens (NRC) that was released on August 31. The BJP's promise of identifying about 40 lakh outsiders and deporting them looks hollow in the view of the NRC list.
While speaking to India Today TV, Nalin Kohli, a BJP spokesperson, rendered the NRC list unsuccessful by citing several reasons. Pointing at one of the reasons, he said that there were people who had come with valid papers but at the borders, the Army or the BSF had not maintained the register due to which the coordinator rejected their claims.
