Farmers vs govt over farm laws: Can Supreme Court find a middle path?

The Supreme Court, which heard a clutch of pleas challenging the new farm laws, rapped the Modi govt over its handling of the farmers' protests. The apex court said it was "extremely disappointed" with the way negotiations were going.

The court told the Centre's counsel that a headway can only be achieved if the govt considers putting the laws on hold and then negotiate. The court further added that if the govt refuses to do so, then it will.
