Coronavirus-induced global decline way worse than financial crisis: IMF

The coronavirus pandemic has brought the global economy to a standstill and plunged the world into a recession that will be “way worse” than the global financial crisis a decade ago, the head of the International Monetary Fund said on Friday, calling it “humanity’s darkest hour.”

While talking to India Today TV, in an exclusive interview, Syed Akbaruddin, Indian ambassador to the UN, said, "The crisis that we face is the gravest crisis that we Indians have faced since independence. It is a multi-dimensional crisis. At the core, it is a health crisis."
