Indians bound for space: Watch successful test engines that will guide Gaganyaan

In a significant milestone, the propulsion system of ISRO's Gaganyaan Service Module underwent a successful test at the ISRO Propulsion Complex (IPRC) in Mahendragiri.

During the test, a battery of five liquid apogee motor (LAM) engines, generating a thrust of 440 N, and sixteen reaction control system (RCS) thrusters, with a thrust of 100 N, were meticulously put through their paces.

The Service Module's propulsion system is designed to use regulated bi-propellant technology, serving crucial functions such as orbit injection, circularization, on-orbit control, de-boost maneuvering, and enabling service module-based abort capabilities during the mission's ascent phase.

This achievement brings India's ambitious Gaganyaan mission one step closer to reality.
