CSK’S INDIFFERENT RUN AT CHEPAUK
The Super Kings have long treated Chepauk as their fortress, where visiting teams have traditionally struggled to find their feet. However, since last season, they have struggled at the venue. This season, CSK have had their fair share of ups and downs at home. They began with a five-wicket loss, where the Punjab Kings chased down 210 with eight balls to spare.
But then they bounced back to beat the Delhi Capitals by 23 runs, thanks to Sanju Samson’s heroic 115 off 56 balls and Jamie Overton’s four-wicket haul. Thereafter, the Super Kings put in a strong showing against the Kolkata Knight Riders, winning by 32 runs.

Against the Titans, however, the Super Kings once again floundered. After being asked to bat first, CSK got off to a horror start, scoring only 28 runs in the powerplay while also losing three wickets. Thereafter, Ruturaj Gaikwad scored a 49-ball fifty to steady the ship for the home team.
Gaikwad eventually finished unbeaten on 74 off 60 balls, guiding the Super Kings to 158 for seven. In response, the Titans needed just 16.4 overs to chase down the target and hand CSK another defeat. Sudharsan, who considers Chepauk his home ground with Tamil Nadu as his domestic team, scored 87 off 46 balls, including four fours and seven sixes.
With the defeat, the Super Kings are precariously placed sixth on the table with six points and a net run rate of -0.121, having won three of their eight matches.
The Super Kings will look to bounce back when they lock horns with the Mumbai Indians on Saturday, May 2 at Chepauk.
