Tamil Nadu: Now, income tax sleuths raid actor Radhika Sarathkumar's office

The Income Tax department today raided the office of Radhika Sarathkumar, the wife of the actor-turned-politician Sarath Kumar, a day after Sarath Kumar was summoned and questioned by the I-T department. Today's raid was on Radaan, the media network owned by Radhika Sarathkumar.

Sarathkumar's home, and properties belonging to Tamil Nadu Health Minister C Vijayabaskar were raided by I-T sleuths on Friday. That happened just two days before the Election Commission cancelled the by-election in Chennai's RK Nagar, J Jayalalithaa's former constituency.  The decision was announced in a 30-page statement carrying various details on what happened in Jayalalithaa's prized constituency since day one, after dates for by-polls were announced. The EC, in the statement, explained how pained it was to see democracy being taken as a joke.

The sudden raid on Vijayabaskar is considered to have played a major role in the EC's decision to cancel the election.
