At least 32 people have been killed and over 2,500 injured in Bangladesh amid escalating student protests demanding quota system reform for government jobs.
On Thursday, protesters set fire to the state-run Bangladesh Television headquarters in Dhaka. Witnesses reported that the protesters besieged the building, damaging its front side, and torching several parked vehicles, trapping staff and journalists inside.
The violence escalated as university students in Dhaka and other cities rallied for over a week against the reservation system, which includes quotas for relatives of 1971 war heroes.
The government has expressed willingness to hold talks with the protesting students.
