From Elevate facelift to 0 Alpha EV, Honda eyes stronger India presence
Honda Cars India will launch six new models in FY2026-27, including hybrids, EVs and global nameplates, while also evaluating CKD assembly operations to strengthen its positioning in the Indian market.

Honda Cars India has outlined an aggressive product expansion strategy for FY2026-27, confirming plans to introduce six new models in the Indian market as the company sharpens its focus on premium positioning, electrification and hybrid technology. The upcoming launches will likely comprise a mix of India-centric products and select global offerings aimed at strengthening the brand’s appeal across multiple segments.
The company has already kicked off this new phase with the launch of the updated Honda City and the all-new Honda ZR-V hybrid SUV. These two models mark the beginning of what Honda describes as a broader transformation of its India business strategy, with several more launches scheduled over the coming months.
The upcoming electric SUV, based on Honda’s 0 Alpha concept, is expected to arrive later this fiscal year. The model has already entered the testing phase in India and will not only cater to the domestic market but also serve as an export product for overseas markets. The EV is expected to play a crucial role in Honda’s long-term electrification strategy for India.
Honda is also preparing updates for its existing portfolio. The Elevate SUV is likely to receive a mid-cycle refresh this year as the segment becomes increasingly competitive with newer rivals and feature-rich alternatives entering the market.
Alongside locally developed products, Honda is evaluating the introduction of several globally recognised nameplates in India. Models such as the Civic, Accord and CR-V are understood to be under consideration, potentially returning to the Indian market with strong-hybrid powertrains. These vehicles are likely to be brought in as limited-volume imports initially, targeting buyers seeking premium hybrid offerings.
The company is also studying the feasibility of introducing the new Prelude hybrid sportscar as a halo product to strengthen Honda’s brand image and enthusiast appeal in India.
Honda is likely exploring the possibility of reintroducing CKD (Completely Knocked Down) operations in the country.
While Honda consolidated its domestic manufacturing operations at its Tapukara facility in Rajasthan in recent years, its Greater Noida plant continues to retain infrastructure capable of supporting CKD assembly. Industry sources suggest that future models such as the Civic, Accord and CR-V could potentially be assembled there if Honda moves ahead with local assembly plans.
Beyond the six confirmed launches for FY2026-27, Honda has also revealed plans for two all-new SUVs tailored for India, including a compact SUV and a mid-size SUV slated for introduction in 2028.
