India’s growing influence in the global automotive industry has received another major boost, with Royal Enfield emerging as the world’s third-strongest automotive brand in the latest Brand Finance Automotive Industry 2026 report.

The iconic motorcycle maker has secured a spot ahead of several internationally renowned names, including Audi and Ferrari, underlining the rising global appeal of Indian automotive brands.

According to the report, Royal Enfield achieved a Brand Strength Index (BSI) score of 88.9 out of 100 and earned an AAA brand strength rating. The company’s overall brand value also witnessed a significant jump of 30 per cent, reaching 1.2 billion dollars. Only Toyota and BMW ranked above the Indian two-wheeler giant in the global standings.

The achievement marks a remarkable transformation for Royal Enfield, which has evolved from being seen primarily as a retro motorcycle brand into a global lifestyle and leisure motorcycling nameplate. Over the past few years, the company has steadily expanded its international operations and now has a presence in more than 80 countries. Its global footprint includes over 3,200 retail touchpoints and seven CKD assembly facilities spread across key overseas markets.

Royal Enfield’s growth has largely been driven by its focused product philosophy. Instead of chasing high-performance numbers or excessive technology, the brand has continued to build motorcycles centred around accessible performance, timeless styling, and an engaging riding experience. This strategy has resonated strongly with riders across different markets.

Motorcycles such as the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 found popularity among urban riders and touring enthusiasts alike, while the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 has helped the company strengthen its position in the rapidly expanding adventure touring segment. The Himalayan 450, in particular, has broadened Royal Enfield’s appeal by offering a more modern and capable package while still retaining the rugged simplicity the brand is known for.

The report also highlights the growing strength of Indian automotive companies on the global stage. Tata Motors secured the fifth position among the world’s strongest automotive brands, reflecting its improving global perception and expanding EV portfolio. Meanwhile, Mahindra ranked 25th, and Maruti Suzuki was placed 34th in the overall rankings.

Royal Enfield’s latest recognition is particularly significant considering the brand’s long history. Founded in 1901, it remains one of the oldest motorcycle marques in continuous production. While its origins lie in the United Kingdom, the brand eventually found its strongest identity in India, where it transformed into a cultural icon and one of the country’s most recognisable automotive success stories.
