8th Pay Commission consultation moves to Lucknow: Key dates, eligibility and details
The 8th Pay Commission is steadily expanding its consultation process, with Lucknow now added to the list of cities where employee representatives and government bodies can share their views. But who can meet the panel, and what are the key dates you should know?
The work of the 8th Pay Commission is slowly picking up pace. After beginning with initial planning and discussions, the Commission has now moved into a more active phase, meeting employee representatives and inviting feedback from stakeholders across different parts of the country.
In its latest move, the 8th Pay Commission has announced a visit to Lucknow, on June 22 and 23, 2026, where it will hold discussions with government organisations, institutions, unions and employee associations.
LUCKNOW VISIT: WHO CAN MEET THE COMMISSION?
According to an official notice, the Commission will be in Lucknow on Monday and Tuesday, June 22–23, to hear views and demands from interested stakeholders in Uttar Pradesh.
Central government organisations, institutions, unions and associations that want to interact with the Commission during the visit must submit a request for an appointment by June 10, 2026. They will also need to provide a unique memo ID generated after submitting their memorandum on the official 8CPC website.
The Commission said venue details and meeting timings will be shared later with selected participants.
However, there is one important condition. Stakeholders from states and Union Territories other than Uttar Pradesh have been requested not to seek appointments for the Lucknow visit, as separate meetings will be held in their respective regions in the coming months.
DELHI AND HYDERABAD MEETINGS ALREADY COMPLETED
The Lucknow visit comes after the Commission held a series of meetings in Delhi between April 28 and 30, where employee representatives placed several demands and concerns before the panel.
After that, the Commission also visited Hyderabad on May 18 and 19 as part of its wider consultation process.
These meetings are seen as an important step in understanding the expectations of central government employees and pensioners ahead of recommendations on salaries, allowances and pensions.
MORE CITY VISITS PLANNED
The Commission’s outreach exercise is far from over. Meetings in Srinagar are scheduled from June 1 to June 4, followed by a visit to Ladakh on June 8, 2026.
The Commission has also said it will continue holding separate meetings in more cities across states and Union Territories in the coming period, signalling that consultations are now gathering speed.
For lakhs of central government employees and pensioners waiting for updates on salary revisions, these meetings may not bring immediate answers, but they do suggest that the groundwork for the next pay revision is steadily moving ahead.
