The 8th Pay Commission has announced that it will visit Bhubaneswar, Odisha, on July 6 and 7, 2026, as part of its ongoing nationwide consultations with central government organisations, institutions, unions and employee associations.

In an official notice issued on May 26, the Commission said stakeholders interested in interacting with the panel during the Bhubaneswar visit can submit requests seeking appointments on or before June 15, 2026.

The notice stated that organisations and unions must submit their requests along with a “unique Memo ID” generated after filing their memorandum before the Commission.

The latest development comes as the 8th Pay Commission gradually expands consultations across different parts of the country to gather feedback and demands from employee representatives and pensioner bodies.

The Commission has already held meetings in Delhi and announced visits to several other cities in recent weeks, including Lucknow, Hyderabad, Srinagar, Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir.

According to the notice, stakeholders can submit memorandums through the official 8th Pay Commission website. The last date for submission of memorandums is May 31, 2026.

“Venue details and meeting schedule shall be intimated separately,” the notice said.

The Commission also clarified that separate meetings for other states and Union Territories will be held in due course.

The 8th Pay Commission was constituted to review salaries, pensions and allowances of central government employees and pensioners.

Employee unions across the country have already submitted several demands before the Commission, including:

  • higher fitment factor,
  • merger of Dearness Allowance (DA) into basic pay,
  • revision in family-unit formula,
  • pension reforms,
  • and OPS-like safeguards.

In recent weeks, consultations around the 8th Pay Commission have intensified as employee bodies continue pressing for salary and pension revisions amid rising inflation and household expenses.

The Bhubaneswar visit is expected to become another important round of discussions as the Commission continues collecting region-specific feedback before preparing its recommendations.
