Man stabs ex-girlfriend on neck, face, her sister injured while trying to intervene

A man allegedly attacked his former girlfriend with a knife in broad daylight in Bhopal, stabbing her repeatedly on the neck, face, back and hands. Her elder sister was also injured while trying to save her. The accused fled the spot, and the attack was captured on CCTV.

According to police, the accused, identified as Akshay Chandel, allegedly intercepted his former girlfriend. He then brought up old disputes and started arguing. Following a verbal scuffle, he suddenly launched a brutal knife attack. He is accused of repeatedly stabbing the woman on her neck, face, back and hands, leaving her severely injured.

The victim's elder sister, who rushed to her rescue after witnessing the assault, was also attacked. Police said the accused allegedly struck her on the face with the knife, causing a deep injury to her cheek.

Eyewitnesses said panic gripped the area as the attack unfolded in full public view. The accused allegedly continued the assault until local residents began gathering at the spot. He then fled the scene before he could be apprehended.

The injured sisters were provided medical treatment, while police launched an investigation into the incident. CCTV footage from the area, which reportedly captured the entire attack, has been seized and is being examined as part of the probe.

Police identified the accused as the victim's former boyfriend and said the motive behind the attack is being investigated. A case has been registered against Akshay Chandel under charges including attempt to murder, assault, criminal intimidation and other relevant sections of law.

Police teams have been formed to trace the accused, who remains absconding. Officials said efforts are underway to arrest him at the earliest.

The incident has sparked concern among residents, with many questioning how such a violent attack could take place in a busy residential locality in broad daylight.
