'Looteri Dulhan' gang busted in Bhopal, runaway bride among three arrested
Bhopal Police arrested a woman and two accomplices who allegedly duped a man named Sarwan Meena of Rs 2.5 lakh by arranging a fraudulent marriage before the bride fled just ten days later.

In a major crackdown on a Looteri Dulhan (runaway bride) gang, the Bhopal Police have arrested three individuals, including a woman, for allegedly duping a man under the pretext of marriage. The arrested accused have been identified as Roop Singh Raikwar, Saroj Uike, and their associate, Ravi Kushwaha. The police also seized a car used in the commission of the crime.
According to the police, Sarwan Meena, a resident of Bhopal’s Amlya village, was facing difficulties finding a match for marriage. During this time, his elder brother, Ramchander, met Roop Singh, a resident of the town of Mandideep. Singh assured the family that he would arrange a bride but demanded Rs 2.5 lakh in exchange for his services.
On April 30, after Meena’s family handed over the cash, Singh introduced them to Saroj Uike. The marriage was solemnised shortly after, and Saroj moved into Meena's home. However, just ten days after the wedding, she fled the house.
After an initial search yielded no results, Meena’s family contacted Roop Singh to track her down. However, Singh refused to cooperate, sparking suspicions of fraud.
Realising they had been conned, the family lodged a formal complaint with the Nazirabad police. Acting on specific intelligence, the police launched a manhunt and subsequently arrested all three accused involved in the matrimonial scam.
