New Covid strain not known to be more dangerous: Dr Vikram Talaulikar

In an exclusive interview with India Today, Dr Vikram Talaulikar, who is part of the Oxford vaccine trials, said that the new Covid strain is not known to be more dangerous.

When asked about the panic being witnessed in the UK over the new strain of the virus, Dr. Talaulikar said, "We shouldn't panic because although we know that this particular strain of the virus is more transmissible, so it's going to infect more people. At the end of the day, we have to start with the same basic lockdown measures that we did earlier. The good part about this strain is that it is not known to be more dangerous, in terms of it's not known to cause serious illness or death."
