India's Omicron tally reaches 3,623, Maharashtra reports 1,009 cases

India on Sunday reported 3,623 cases of the highly transmissible Omicron variant of coronavirus. Maharashtra reported 1,009 cases of Omicron variant of SARS-CoV-2 followed by Delhi with 513 cases.

The country reported 1,59,632 new Covid-19 infections on Sunday, 12.4 per cent higher than yesterday, according to data shared by the Union Health Ministry. This brings the country’s cumulative caseload to 3,55,28,004. Total recoveries were at 3,44,53,603 across the country. A total of 40,863 patients recovered in the last 24 hours. The recovery rate is now at 96.98 per cent. India's active caseload stands at 5,90,611. In the last 24 hours, active cases increased by 1,18,442.
