CBSE re-evaluation 2026 live: Questions left unchecked, correct MCQs marked wrong; no suitable option available, claim students

The launch of the CBSE Class 12 re-evaluation and verification process has been marred by fresh complaints from students, with many reporting technical issues on the board's post-result services portal within hours of it going live.

Students alleged that they were unable to complete the application process despite multiple attempts. Several users claimed that the portal became unresponsive after they entered their credentials and uploaded the required details, leaving them stuck on a blank or frozen screen and unable to apply for mark verification, answer-sheet photocopies or re-evaluation.

The complaints emerged shortly after CBSE activated the portal following a series of postponements. The board had originally scheduled the launch for May 29 before deferring it to June 1, assuring students that the system would be ready to handle applications smoothly.

Apart from the reported portal glitches, students also flagged concerns regarding the evaluation process. Some alleged that certain answers in their answer sheets had not been assessed, while others claimed that correctly answered multiple-choice questions (MCQs) had been marked incorrect. Several students further said that the portal does not provide an appropriate grievance option to report such issues, creating confusion over the next course of action.

The latest developments come against the backdrop of growing scrutiny of CBSE's newly introduced On-Screen Marking (OSM) system. This year, more than 4 lakh students are expected to seek post-result services, including verification of marks, access to evaluated answer books and re-evaluation.

Given the large number of expected applications, any disruption in the system could significantly impact students seeking redressal. Earlier, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had indicated that nearly 20 per cent of students who access their evaluated answer books may opt for verification or re-evaluation, a figure that could translate into approximately 80,000 applications.

As complaints continue to surface, pressure is mounting on the board to address both the technical challenges and evaluation-related concerns, while ensuring transparency and confidence in the re-evaluation process.
