She is among the four students who have jointly topped the examination, making her achievement even more remarkable.

Coming from a humble background, Shiwangi’s father, Ramkishor Sahu, runs a grocery shop, while her mother is a homemaker. She also has an elder brother.

Despite her stellar performance, Shiwangi describes her early academic journey in simple terms. “I was average in studies from the beginning. So, I didn’t care much initially,” she says in an interview with India Today.in.

FROM ‘AVERAGE STUDENT’ TO JAC TOPPER

Shiwangi says her mindset began to shift when she entered Class 6 and realised the level of competition around her.

“As I entered high school in Class 6, I saw so many students in my class and thought how I would do it,” she explains.

However, topping her class that year became a defining moment. “I had topped in Class 6, so I thought now I won’t break this record,” she adds.

She credits her parents’ support for pushing her forward. “My parents are sending me to school, so I would definitely do something,” she says.

STUDY PLAN: SELF-STUDY AND REVISION

Shiwangi believes her success came from discipline and consistent revision. She admits she wasn’t very serious about revision method until Class 8, but things changed in Class 9.

“I wasn’t much serious till Class 8, but in Class 9, I set targets for myself,” she says.

She began fixing study hours and focused on revising chapters regularly. “I mainly focused on self-study. I used to study for 4–5 hours at home,” she adds.

PRACTICE MADE HER CONFIDENT

A key part of her preparation was writing answers and getting them checked by teachers.

“I used to follow this strategy and then get it checked by my teachers, and it helped me a lot,” she says.

This practice ensured she was well-prepared for the board exams. “That’s why I did not face problems while writing my board exams,” she adds.

HER ADVICE: FOCUS IN CLASS, REVISE WELL

For students preparing for the JAC board exams, Shiwangi keeps her advice simple and practical.

“Whatever is taught in schools, students should focus on it and study in class carefully,” she says.

She stresses the importance of revision: “Students should focus on revision so that we get to know what’s wrong in the answers and where we can improve.”

WHAT NEXT: LAW ASPIRATIONS

After her stellar performance in the JAC 10th Result 2026, Shiwangi has clear plans ahead. She wants to opt for the Humanities stream and prepare for a career in law.

Her journey, from calling herself an “average student” to becoming a state topper, shows that consistency, self-study, and belief can make all the difference.
