Beerwah Assembly Constituency

Beerwah is one of the 90 assembly constituencies in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. It is a part of the Srinagar Lok Sabha constituency. Beerwah is one of the oldest towns in Jammu and Kashmir and is one of the largest towns in the Budgam district. It also holds the distinction of being one of the oldest tehsils in the region.

Located 35 kilometers away from Srinagar, Beerwah sub-district comprises four tehsils. According to the 2011 Census of India, Beerwah has a population of 167,850, with males constituting 53% and females 47%. The average literacy rate in Beerwah is 63%, with male literacy at 67% and female literacy at 53%.

Beerwah is also known as a tourist destination. The constituency includes a total of 124 villages, predominantly Sunni Muslim, along with 7 Shia Muslim and 5 Sikh villages. In terms of voter population, Beerwah is the largest assembly constituency in the Budgam district.

In the 2014 Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, Omar Abdullah of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) won the Beerwah seat, securing 23,717 votes.
