Dooru is one of the 90 assembly constituencies in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. It is a part of the Anantnag-Rajouri Lok Sabha constituency. Dooru is also known as Shahabad and is a city situated in the Anantnag district, serving as the headquarters of the Dooru Tehsil. This area is recognized as a historical settlement within the southern region of Kashmir in the Anantnag district.

According to the 2011 Indian Census, Dooru had a population of 19,429. The average literacy rate in the region was 70.61%, with male literacy at 83.09% and female literacy at 58.41%. Additionally, 23% of the population was under the age of six.

In the 2014 Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly elections, Ghulam Ahmad Mir of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) won the seat from Dooru.
