Jamshedpur West Assembly Constituency

Jamshedpur, founded by industrialist Jamshedji Nusserwanji Tata, is the largest and most populous city in Jharkhand. Known for its industrial significance, Jamshedpur is often referred to as the industrial capital of Jharkhand. It is home to Tata Steel, one of the largest industries in the region, and Tata Motors, another major industrial entity located in the eastern part of the city. The city also features its own township, commonly known as Telco.

In the 2019 assembly elections, Banna Gupta from the Indian National Congress won the seat, securing 96,778 votes. His main competitor, Devendra Nath Singh from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), received 74,195 votes, while Rayaz Sharif from the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) garnered 8,005 votes.

In the previous 2014 assembly elections, the seat was won by Saryu Roy of the BJP, who received 95,346 votes. Banna Gupta, then a candidate from the Congress party, secured 84,829 votes, and Upendra Singh from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) received 2,899 votes.
