Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has secured a decisive Ghatsila by-poll win as Somesh Chandra Soren defeated BJP's Babu Lal Soren by over 38,000 votes, reinforcing JMM's hold. The contest, triggered by the death of former MLA Ramdas Soren, highlighted a battle of political legacies and shifting loyalties, serving as revenge against Ex-CM Champai Soren, who had defected to the BJP last year.

According to sources, BJP's Jharkhand unit chief, Babulal Marandi, will be holding one-to-one meetings with all defeated party candidates to understand the reason for the poor performance in the tribal-dominated state.

Kalpana Soren, who defeated BJP's Muniya Devi from Jharkhand's Gandey seat, is not keen to be a part of the state Cabinet, but such a possibility cannot be ruled out, sources told India Today TV.

A post-poll analysis of the Assembly polls highlighted that the Jairam Mahto-led Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha (JKLM) played a key role in some Kudmi Mahto community-dominated Assembly seats and dented the electoral prospects of the BJP and its allies, mainly the AJSU Party.

JMM executive president Hemant Soren will take oath as the Chief Minister on November 28, five days after his JMM-led alliance made a stunning comeback, winning 56 of 81 seats in the Assembly polls.

The ministers who bit dust included Health minister Banna Gupta who courted several controversies besides Water Resources minister Mithilesh Thakur. The other two included Education minister Baidyanath Ram and Social Welfare Minister Bebi Devi.
