Ahmedpur is a part of the Latur Lok Sabha constituency. Ahmedpur is situated 66 kilometers from Latur and is the third largest city in the district. 

The population of Ahmedpur town stands at 23,936, comprising 12,796 males and 11,140 females. The literacy rate in Ahmedpur is 82.67%, which is slightly higher than the state's average literacy rate of 82.34%. The Scheduled Caste (SC) population accounts for 14.84% of the total population. 

In the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections, Babasaheb Patil of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) won the seat with 84,636 votes. Vinayakrao Kishanrao Jadhav Patil of the BJP came second, securing 55,445 votes. In the 2014 Assembly elections, Vinayakrao Kishanrao Jadhav Patil won the seat as an independent candidate.
