Amrawati Assembly Constituency

Amravati Assembly Constituency is one of the 288 legislative assembly constituencies in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is located in Amravati district and is a part of the Amravati Lok Sabha constituency. As per the 2008 delimitation, the Amravati Assembly Constituency comprises parts of Amravati Tehsil, including wards number 1 to 5, 19 to 31, 41 to 56, and 62 to 71 of Amravati (M.Corp.).

In the 2019 Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections, Sulbha Sanjay Khodke of the Indian National Congress emerged victorious by defeating the incumbent Sunil Deshmukh. The Indian National Congress has been the most successful party in this constituency historically.

Amravati serves as the administrative headquarters for both the Amravati district and division, which includes districts such as Akola, Buldhana, Washim, and Yavatmal. Additionally, Amravati is one of the cities in Maharashtra designated under the Smart Cities Mission.

As of the 2011 census, the population of Amravati city was 646,801, with a gender distribution of 330,544 males and 316,257 females, resulting in a sex ratio of 957 females per 1000 males. Hinduism is the predominant religion in Amravati, with 61.8% of the population adhering to it, followed by Islam at 23.7% and Buddhism at 12.8%.

In the 2019 election results, Sulbha Sanjay Khodke of the Congress party received 82,582 votes, securing her victory, while Sunil Punjabrao Deshmukh of the Bharatiya Janata Party received 64,313 votes.
