West Bengal Election 2021 Phase 1: War of words between BJP and TMC, incidents of violence, more

Sporadic incidents of violence were reported from some areas where voting took place in the first phase of the assembly elections in West Bengal on Saturday. Both Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) blamed each other for the incidents of violence. A war of words broke out between BJP and TMC as both blamed each other over poll rigging charges.

The first phase of West Bengal polls were held in 30 seats. Over 73 lakh voters were eligible to exercise their franchise to decide the fate of 191 candidates in these 30 seats.
