Britney Spears’ representative has denied reports that the singer was acting erratically and walking around a restaurant with a knife during a recent dinner outing. In a statement on Thursday, the spokesperson said Spears was having a quiet meal with her assistant and bodyguard and had not put anyone in danger.
The denial came after entertainment journalist Jeffrey Sneider posted on X on Wednesday evening that he had dinner next to Spears and described it as a “wild experience." By Thursday morning, TMZ published its own account, alleging that Spears raised her voice, screamed, barked and walked around with a knife. The report also claimed that she tried to light a cigarette near the front door of the restaurant in Sherman Oaks.
Representative’s response
In a statement issued to Rolling Stone, Spears’ spokesperson rejected the account, saying the singer was not behaving dangerously during the meal. “She was simply telling the story about how her dog was barking at the neighbours. At no point did she put anyone in danger with a knife. She was cutting her hamburger in half.”
The spokesperson also accused sections of the media of unfairly targeting Spears. “This constant attack on everything that she does, and this is exactly what happened 20 years ago when the media tried to depict Britney as a bad person,” they said, adding, “This is ridiculous, and it needs to stop now.”

Sneider said on X that the dinner drew attention from others in the restaurant after Spears left with her group. “Everyone in the restaurant turned and started talking about it. An INSANE dining experience. One diner feared for her life. This is not a joke,” he wrote.

In a recent Instagram post, Spears wrote about her spiritual journey. She said she had gone to a pet store with her children and seen a baby snake, which she described as a symbol of “good health, higher consciousness, and pure luck”. She also wrote that she was thankful for her friends and the new people she had met, and that she was still learning how to be kind to herself.
Separately, Spears pleaded guilty on Monday to a reduced charge linked to her Southern California drink-driving case. Her lawyer, Michael A Goldstein, said the focus was on her recovery and moving forward.
