Singer Saapna Mukerji expressed her joy at seeing the classic track Oye Oye resonate with a new generation after its recreation in Dhurandhar 2. She highlighted that the song’s revival, including its use in the end credits alongside Amit Kumar, proves that music can transcend time.

While the former plays out against the backdrop of an important car chase sequence, Oye Oye (Tirchi Topiwale) featuring Jameel Jamali (essayed by Rakesh Bedi) and Bade Sahab (played by Danish Iqbal) in a climactic sequence has turned heads.

Saapna Mukerji, who had lent her vocals to the Tridev track, spoke to News18 and said, “I had a quiet smile. Oye Oye chose its moment to return. And what made it even more special was the timing. I had just performed at a very special concert for CISF and NSG jawans, where the same song was celebrated with so much pride and energy."

“Then to see it come alive again in Dhurandhar 2, used twice, even in the end credits with my voice and Amit Kumar’s making the melody immortal again, it felt like the song was finding its place across generations once more," she added.

She praised the recreated version and thanked Aditya Dhar for ‘keeping the dignity of music alive’ by ‘not changing its soul’.

The singer expressed her appreciation for the honesty and respect shown in the recreation. She noted that, in today’s time, many people use songs without giving credit, but praised Aditya Dhar, calling him an amazing producer-director who acknowledged the original creators. She added that he deserved thanks for recognising those who composed, arranged, and sang the song.

With the views of the original music video increasing, Mukerji reflected on Gen-Z connecting with the classic, calling it the true legacy of music.

She explained that when a new generation rediscovers the original track, it shows the song has travelled beyond time. Listeners are not hearing something old but experiencing something timeless, which she considers the biggest blessing as an artist.
