BJP leader alleges Rs 100 crore scam at Tirumala temple, court orders CID inquiry

A political controversy has erupted in Andhra Pradesh over an alleged Rs 100 crore scam at the Tirumala Tirupati Devastanam's hundi counting centre, the Parakamani. TTD board member and BJP leader Bhanu Prakash Reddy released CCTV footage from April 2023, allegedly showing an employee stealing money. The allegation states the theft occurred during the YSRCP regime between 2019 and 2024, with the money purportedly invested in real estate. TTD Board Member Banu Prakash Reddy was quoted saying, “Hundred crores Parakamani scam had taken place during YSRCP period that is from 2023.” The YSRCP has denied the allegations, accusing political rivals of misusing the temple's name for political gain. Following the revelations, the Andhra Pradesh High Court has ordered a CID inquiry into the matter, while the YSRCP has demanded a CBI probe.
