Siddaramaiah asked to step down as CM by Congress high command, say sources

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has been asked by the Congress high command to step down and been offered a national role and a Rajya Sabha seat,  according to sources. Siddaramaiah is allegedly unhappy with the proposal. While official Congress representatives deny any change of guard, stating that ongoing meetings in the national capital are solely regarding legislative council and Rajya Sabha seats, reports suggest the discussions are interconnected. The incumbent leader has left the party headquarters without commenting, while his potential successor remains in discussions with the party leadership.
