Pune teen booked after car crashes off bridge in alleged drunk driving incident
Pune Police registered a case against a 19-year-old after his car crashed off Garware Bridge in Deccan late at night. The crash caused panic in the area, though no pedestrians or other motorists were injured.

Pune Police have registered a case against a 19-year-old youth after he allegedly drove under the influence of alcohol and met with a serious accident near Garware Bridge in the city’s Deccan area late at night.
The accused, identified as Atharva Amit Jain, was reportedly driving at high speed from Deccan Gymkhana towards Goodluck Chowk along Jangli Maharaj Road when the incident occurred near the Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj statue.
According to police officials, Jain allegedly lost control of the vehicle while crossing Garware Bridge. The car crashed into the bridge railing, broke through the barricade and fell off the bridge onto the road below.
The accident triggered panic in the area and quickly attracted a large crowd, as the stretch remains busy with traffic movement even during late hours.
Police said the driver was the only person injured in the crash and no casualties involving pedestrians or other motorists were reported.
A team from Deccan Police Station reached the spot soon after receiving information and began further investigation into the incident. More details are awaited.
