A woman sustained a gunshot injury to her leg in UP's Aligarh after two masked assailants on a motorcycle opened fire at her in broad daylight on Saturday. After carrying out the attack, the accused fled the spot on their motorcycle, triggering panic in the area.

Police rushed to the scene after receiving information about the incident and admitted the injured woman to the district hospital for treatment. The entire incident was captured on a CCTV camera. The footage shows two youths arriving on a motorcycle and fleeing immediately after carrying out the attack.

Police have launched an investigation and are trying to identify the accused with the help of the CCTV footage. Officials said they would arrest both suspects soon.

Providing details of the case, DSP Sarvam Singh said police received information that a woman had been injured near Nivari Mod in the Roravar area. During the inquiry, it emerged that the woman had suffered a suspected gunshot injury. Doctors confirmed the nature of the injury, following which police questioned the victim’s husband.

According to the husband, the family has an old rivalry with a local resident from the same neighbourhood, and he alleged that the man was behind the attack. DSP Singh said police are investigating all aspects of the case. He added that the injured woman's condition is stable.
