According to officials, Singh succumbed to his injuries while being taken to the hospital.

Family members of the deceased have expressed frustration, accusing the authorities of subjecting workers to harsh conditions without addressing their concerns. They claimed that workers are made to labour around the clock with no one listening to their grievances.

The accident comes amid ongoing issues with the Aligarh Municipal Corporation's CM GRID initiative, where many roads remain damaged or incomplete.

For the uninitiated, the CM GRID Scheme in Aligarh aims to transform key roads into modern, smart streets for better traffic flow, safety, and urban aesthetics. The initiative focusses on upgrading wide, high-traffic roads to enhance infrastructure across the city.

The tragic incident has raised serious questions about worker safety and the quality of urban infrastructure in Aligarh.
