Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay is likely to expand his cabinet later this week. The list of ministers is currently being finalised and is yet to reach the Governor for approval. Once the Governor gives the nod, the new ministers will be sworn in. The upcoming cabinet expansion is expected to include two Congress MLAs. Congress leader Manickam Tagore confirmed that out of their five MLAs supporting the TVK alliance, two members, including Rajesh, will receive cabinet berths. The Congress party stated its intention to be part of the governance and power-sharing arrangement for the long run, with plans to contest the upcoming local body and 2029 elections together. Chief Minister Vijay currently enjoys the support of 144 MLAs, which includes 23 rebel AIADMK legislators. While there is speculation that six AIADMK members might also get cabinet seats, this remains unconfirmed. With only nine ministers currently sworn in alongside the Chief Minister, a major cabinet expansion is anticipated.
