DMK MP A Raja had a narrow escape on Sunday when a heavy light post came crashing down during a public event in Tamil Nadu's Mayiladuthurai. The incident occurred while Raja was addressing the gathering, and was captured on video, which has since gone viral on social media.
The dramatic moment unfolded as strong winds swept through the venue, toppling the stage light mounted on a steel rod. The fixture fell directly onto the microphone stand, just inches from where Raja was speaking. In the footage, Raja is seen reacting swiftly, stepping back and running off the stage as the metal structure crashes onto the podium, triggering panic among those present.
Moments after the collapse, chaos erupted both on and off the stage, with party members and attendees scrambling for cover. Following the incident, Raja and other DMK leaders quickly exited the venue, which was soon deserted as heavy rain lashed the area, tearing down banners and leaving chairs scattered in disarray.
