India Today's Ashraf Wani shares first-hand account of covering war in Lebanon

India Today's reporter Ashraf Wani, who covered the conflict in southern Lebanon and is back in India, recounts his experiences from one of the war's hottest zones. He highlights that Israel's approach differs from other conflicts, stating that 'there is no difference between a journalist and a civilian and Hezbollah fighter or the enemy fighter for the IDF.' Wani references the recent killing of three journalists, including a woman, whose vehicle bore a press sticker but was still targeted by Israeli forces. He notes that unlike other wars in Afghanistan, Pakistan, or during the Arab uprising, journalists face direct targeting in conflicts involving Israel. Wani describes the mass displacement of over a million people—one-fifth of Lebanon's population—forced to leave their homes in southern Lebanon.
