Tamil Nadu Farmers go on hunger strike over Centre's delay to form Cauvery Management Board

Despite Tamil Nadu opposing any further delay citing the law and order situation in the state, the Supreme Court today asked the Centre to submit the draft scheme on May 14.
Farmers in the Cauvery delta region went on a hunger strike demanding that farmers of Tamil Nadu are not cheated. Farmers in the region stated that if there is no conclusive decision on the formation of the Cauvery Water Management Board, they will commit suicide.
"We have been fighting for this for a really long time and if the governments can't help us get our rights, we would rather die. If we don't get the Cauvery water management board on May 14, then on May 15, we will jump into the sea and die," said protesting farmers in Trich
