Twisha Sharma's second autopsy by AIIMS-Delhi allowed by MP High Court
The Madhya Pradesh High Court has approved the plea for a second autopsy of Twisha Sharma by specialists from AIIMS Delhi.
In the latest development in the Twisha Sharma death case, the victim's husband Samarth Singh is withdrawing his anticipatory bail plea in the Madhya Pradesh High Court and has offered to surrender before a magistrate court, said his lawyer. Samarth Singh has been absconding for ten days following the rejection of his initial anticipatory bail plea by a lower court. The Solicitor General of India, representing the Madhya Pradesh government, argued that he must surrender to the police for investigation rather than the magistrate. Meanwhile, the Madhya Pradesh High Court is hearing a petition filed by Twisha's parents requesting a second postmortem by an institute like AIIMS Bhopal or AIIMS Jammu. Giribala Singh, Samarth Singh's mother and a former Sessions judge, is opposing the second postmortem, with her lawyer arguing that the body should be released to the in-laws for last rites. The High Court has ordered that the body must be preserved for now. Additionally, the anticipatory bail granted to Giribala Singh is currently being challenged by the Madhya Pradesh government.
