Kolkata police officials reach Abhishek Banerjee's home over civic body notice

Kolkata Police officials have arrived at the residence of a senior Trinamool Congress Member of Parliament following a notice issued by the Kolkata Municipal Corporation. The civic body had served a seven-day notice regarding alleged unauthorized construction at the property located on Harish Mukherjee Road. According to corporation sources, the notice period expired today, prompting the arrival of multiple senior police personnel. The alleged illegal construction reportedly involves an elevator or escalator inside the residence. Sources indicate that the senior parliamentarian, who is a close relative of the state's chief minister and considered second-in-command in the party, had requested an additional ten days to respond to the civic body's notice. The parliamentarian had previously questioned the municipal corporation regarding which specific portion of the building was deemed illegal.
