The National Commission for Scheduled Tribes has invited applications for its 2026 internship programme.

The National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) has opened applications for its Internship Programme 2026, giving students and young graduates an opportunity to work closely with one of the country's key constitutional bodies.

The programme aims to encourage academic engagement and research-based learning by involving interns in the Commission’s ongoing work related to Scheduled Tribes and policy development. Interested candidates can apply online through the NCSTGRAMS portal until June 18, 2026, at 5 pm.

A CHANCE TO WORK ON REAL RESEARCH

The internship has been designed to expose students to policy issues, governance mechanisms and research activities undertaken by the Commission.

According to the official notification, around 10 interns will be selected in each intake. Depending on administrative requirements, selected candidates may be posted either at the NCST Headquarters or one of its Regional Offices.

Interns will work under the guidance of officers and officials and will be expected to contribute to research and documentation-related assignments.

WHO CAN APPLY FOR NCST INTERNSHIP?

Applicants must fulfil the following conditions:

  • Must have secured at least 60 per cent marks or equivalent in the previous qualifying examination

  • Students currently in the second year of graduation are eligible

  • Candidates who have already completed graduation can also apply

  • Relaxation in eligibility may be granted by NCST in exceptional cases

The Commission has clarified that merely meeting the eligibility requirements does not guarantee selection.

DOCUMENTS YOU WILL NEED

Candidates must submit the following while applying:

  • Statement of Purpose (SOP) on the prescribed topic

  • No Objection Certificate (NOC), wherever applicable

  • Other supporting academic documents as required in the application form

Applications will be assessed on several factors, including:

  • Academic performance

  • Relevance of academic discipline

  • Quality of the Statement of Purpose

  • Authenticity of submitted information

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a personal or online interview before the final selection process.

STIPEND AND ATTENDANCE RULES

Selected interns will receive a stipend of Rs 15,000 at the end of the internship period.

However, the payment will be released only if interns maintain at least 90 per cent attendance during the one-month programme. Final selection will be made based on the recommendations of the Selection Committee after completion of the scrutiny and interview process.
