Despite a marathon meeting behind closed doors, the leaders of the seven-party non-Marxist United Democratic Front (UDF) - still in the process of formation - were finding it difficult to agree on the state's 12th chief minister. While Congress(I) leaders were determined to install K. Karunakaran in the chair, the 22-member Congress(S) Legislature Party also demanded the price for pulling down the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government in the state.
