Dhurandhar box office prediction report

Dhurandhar: The Revenge has set the box office momentum racing. The Ranveer Singh starrer stands at the precipice of something unprecedented for a Hindi film at the ticket window -- massive records that are expected to keep tumbling at least until the end of its extended opening weekend.

The film's long runtime has done little to deter audiences, who are booking tickets at a relentless pace. The result is a phenomenal advance booking response, for both its premiere on March 18 (today) and its first full day of release on March 19 (Thursday).

Dhurandhar: The Revenge premiere shows booking report

According to Sacnilk, as of 12:38 am on March 18, Dhurandhar 2 had grossed a mammoth Rs 47.91 crore (with block seats) for its premiere alone. Advance bookings for Thursday are equally rock solid, with over seven lakh tickets sold across 17,000 shows (with block seats), amounting to Rs 33.60 crore gross. Add roughly Rs 75 crore from overseas pre-sales for the weekend, and the total surges to a staggering Rs 156.51 crore. Notably, this is only the film's pre-sales business so far, with bookings for Friday, Saturday and Sunday expected to rise further as the Eid holiday weekend approaches.

Dhurandhar: The Revenge is poised for an opening between Rs 100-150 crore nett on its first day, excluding premiere shows. Including Wednesday's preview collections, the film is eyeing an opening in the range of Rs 200 crore nett in India alone, and over Rs 300 crore over the extended weekend. The extended opening weekend, as per trade estimates, is likely to soar beyond Rs 500 crore worldwide -- numbers that could rewrite box office history across the board.

Dhurandhar 2 trade expectations

Film producer and noted trade analyst Girish Johar spoke to indiatoday.tech, and described the Dhurandhar 2 craze at the box office. He said, "We all know that the love for the film is humongous, and the audience is waiting for the film with bated breath. Everyone is very excited. It is one of those few films which has already garnered more than Rs 100 crore in advance ticket sales across the globe, which is very rare. A very few films have done that. That shows the excitement level."

When asked about the trade predictions, he said, "Tomorrow is a good day for the film to begin its box office journey. Then we have the Eid holiday. So the extended weekend is going to be huge, and with paid previews today, it will be grand. There are certain places where some content issues in the regional languages have been reported, but Hindi paid previews are bound to happen as planned. So, along with that, I am definitely expecting more than Rs 300 crore over the extended weekend at the India box office for sure. And the rest depends on how the audiences like the film, their feedback."

The major target is also to dethrone its first part. As Johar mentioned, "But I am quite confident that the second part will, in all probability, overtake the first part as well. It surpassed trade expectations the first time. When it happens the second time, we will all be happily accepting it."

He went on to say that while Dhurandhar 2 will be challenging the massive run of films like "Baahubali 2, RRR, Jawan and Pathan, it will be challenging its own throne too. So, let it explode."

Dhurandhar: The Revenge South box office report

For trade analyst Ramesh Bala, the film is set for a solid opening in the South as well. "It is all set for an excellent opening. Premieres + Day 1 South will be Rs 30 crore gross, while its four-day opening weekend will go over Rs 100 crore gross," he told us.

Bala further added that the film is likely to gain the most from the Karnataka market, especially since its Telugu version faces a clash with Ustaad Bhagat Singh, starring Pawan Kalyan. When asked which market would perform best, he said, "Karnataka. In Telugu states, they have Ustaad Bhagat Singh to compete."

According to a report by Sacnilk, the film has already grossed over Rs 7.04 crore for its opening day in advance bookings across the Southern markets -- the highest among the four regions. The film has collected Rs 1.19 crore from Kerala, Rs 2.05 crore from Tamil Nadu, and Rs 2.9 crore from Telangana.
