Love and War on Republic Day, Sanjay Leela Bhansali makes new announcement
Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Love and War has a new release date, shifting its big-screen arrival to a key holiday window. The film's postponement and revised timing also set up an interesting box office clash.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love and War is now set to release in January 2027. The makers made the announcement on Friday, ending the long wait for fans. The emotional saga, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal and Alia Bhatt, will hit theatres as a Republic Day release on January 21, 2027.
The film was earlier slated for a big summer release this year. While the makers have not revealed the reason for the postponement, several media reports suggest that multiple changes to the storyline and extensive post-production work contributed to the delay.
Love and War also marks Ranbir and Alia’s return to the big screen after their 2022 action-fantasy, Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva. It is Bhansali's first directorial since the success of Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022), which also starred Alia.
With the revised release date, the film is expected to clash at the box office with Rishab Shetty's The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, which is also scheduled for a Republic Day weekend release next year.
Earlier, Ranbir had revealed during an Instagram Live session that Love and War would arrive in theatres after his upcoming epic, Ramayana: Part I, which is slated for a Diwali release this year, likely in the last week of October.
Love and War will release in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
