Yash on Rama-Ravana clash in Ramayana
While opening up on his relationship with Ranbir on set and how they developed their dynamic, Yash said, "Interestingly, we both have never come together on screen in this film. As you all know, it's a two-part film. So, in the first part, I think we have, as Ravana, I have my own kingdom, and Rama has his own kingdom."
Yash on his off-screen chemistry with Ranbir Kapoor
Yash praised Ranbir as a "fabulous actor" and said that their off-screen chemistry is rooted in mutual respect. He emphasised that for a project as ambitious as the Ramayana, the entire team is driven by a unified vision to present the best possible version of the story. "Our visions are aligned, so the chemistry is not even an issue," he added, highlighting the enjoyment they are finding in the collaboration.
Regarding Yash's portrayal of Ravana, director Nitesh Tiwari has previously stated that his Ramayana films will not depict Ravana solely as a villain. Instead, Yash's portrayal of Ravana will highlight his admirable qualities. Tiwari, in an interview with Collider, said, "See, Ravana had so many aspects to his life. He was a great warrior, he was an accomplished musician, a scholar, a benevolent king... a great Shiva devotee. There was so much to him than just being a black character."
Ranbir's first look as Lord Rama was unveiled on April 2, 2026 on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti. The teaser depicts Rama in multiple avatars – as a king, the ideal son, a warrior, and a righteous man.
Ramayana also features Sai Pallavi as goddess Sita, Ravie Dubey as Laxman and Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman, among others.
