Did Ranveer Singh use multiple vanity vans during Dhurandhar? Gaurav Gera reacts

Actor Gaurav Gera has pushed back against online claims that Ranveer Singh had multiple vanity vans on the sets of Dhurandhar, saying he did not see anything of the sort during the shoot. The row began after a Reddit post shared a screengrab of the film's end credits and claimed three separate vans had been allotted to Ranveer's character, Hamza.

The labels in the credits - Hamza van, Hamza staff van, and Hamza normal van - quickly set off a social media debate over spending on stars. But when the issue came up in a conversation with filmmaker Farah Khan, Gera dismissed the chatter.

Farah's joke, Gaurav's reply

During the conversation, Farah first praised Ranveer's work in Dhurandhar and said, "What a talent. 5 van aur dedo usko, Dhurandhar ke baad" (give him five more vanity vans after Dhurandhar). Gera then replied, "Maine toh nahi dekhi itni vans" (I didn't see these many vans). Farah smiled and added, "Give it to him if he wants it."

Farah also praised Gera's performance in the film and said she did not recognise him when she first watched it.

A funny set memory

Gera also recalled that Ranveer instantly recognised him as his popular character Chutki during a script reading session.

"We were sitting for Dhurandhar's reading, which went on for a long time. In the middle, Ranveer took a break to go to the loo. I had my beard at that time. He followed me and teased in that voice, saying, 'Chutki, washroom jaayegi' (Chutki, will you come to the washroom)?’ He is super fun, quite a brat. He is wonderful," Gera said.

Gaurav became a household name through his comedy sketches as Chutki on the small screen. The popularity came much before short-video platforms became popular.

About the film

Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar is a spy action thriller that emerged as a critical and commercial blockbuster. The film follows Ranveer Singh's character Jaskirat Singh Rangi's transformation into Hamza and his rise through Lyari's political structure to dismantle a terror network in Pakistan.

Dhurandhar also stars Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Rakesh Bedi, Sara Arjun and Danish Pandor among others.

The film has stayed in the spotlight after its release as well, with co-producer Jyoti Deshpande recently saying the makers were "not done with Dhurandhar yet" and teasing a surprise for audiences later this year.
