Director Anurag Basu has said his untitled film starring Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela is moving ahead as planned. The shoot is under way, and the film is set for a theatrical release this year per schedule. His statement comes amid speculation that the project had been delayed.

"We are very much on schedule, and the shoot is progressing well. It’s a film we believe in deeply, and we are bringing it to audiences this year as intended," the filmmaker said in an official statement.
The film has drawn attention for bringing Kartik and Sreeleela together for the first time under Basu’s direction.
The director’s update is significant because questions had been raised about the film’s timeline.
Shoot timeline clarified
Unconfirmed reports had suggested that most of the shooting had already been completed. Basu has now dismissed that claim.
Speaking to Variety India, he said the idea that the bulk of the film had been shot was incorrect. He said the production had not crossed 45 days of filming and added that the shoot had only recently begun.
The project had earlier been unveiled through a promo featuring Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela, in February last year. At the time, the film had been announced for a December 2025 release. It was later delayed for several reasons.
Next on the filmmaker's slate
In the interview, Basu also spoke about his plans after finishing the romantic musical drama. He said he wants to move to his Kishore Kumar biopic as soon as this project is wrapped up. The director also expressed that he had been thinking about Kishore Kumar for a long time. For now, however, his focus remains on completing the current film at pace.
The untitled romantic musical drama is backed by T-Series. Its music has been composed by Pritam.
