Ranveer Singh attempted private settlement before Don 3 fallout: Report
Actor Ranveer Singh reportedly offered Rs 10 crore upfront and a Rs 25 crore future discount to settle the Don 3 dispute with Excel Entertainment before the fallout escalated publicly.

Weeks before the Don 3 dispute spilled into the public domain, Ranveer Singh and his team attempted to resolve matters privately with Excel Entertainment through a financial settlement proposal worth Rs 35 crores in total, as per reports.
According to Bollywood Hungama aware of the development, Ranveer’s camp offered Rs 10 crores as an upfront payment and an additional Rs 25 crores discount on a future film collaboration with Excel. The proposal was discussed during a meeting held in the first week of March, attended by several senior industry names, including Aamir Khan, Sajid Nadiadwala, Karan Johar, Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, among others.
However, the offer did not find favour with Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, who reportedly wanted direct compensation instead of a future business arrangement. The failed negotiations came months before reports emerged on Monday that the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) had issued a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer following his exit from Don 3.
Why did Excel reject Ranveer Singh’s offer?
Sources said Excel Entertainment was unwilling to consider a future collaboration with Ranveer after prolonged delays and uncertainty surrounding the film.
“Farhan and Ritesh were very clear that they did not want to work with Ranveer Singh after what they had gone through over the last two years. They felt that the delays, uncertainty and the eventual fallout had caused them serious financial and professional damage,” a source said.
The banner is understood to have sought upfront compensation for losses allegedly incurred during the pre-production stage of Don 3, including scheduling, groundwork and other preparations linked to the project.
What reportedly caused the breakdown between Ranveer and Excel?
People close to Ranveer Singh claimed the actor had grown uncomfortable with the way the project was progressing. Industry conversations around alternative casting, including reported discussions with Hrithik Roshan, allegedly strained the relationship further.
A source close to the actor said Ranveer felt the trust had weakened after sensing a lack of confidence from the banner during a difficult phase in his career. The actor was also reportedly unconvinced about the script and the overall commitment towards the project following the success of Dhurandhar.
Despite the fallout, sources maintained that Ranveer did not want Excel Entertainment to face financial losses, which is why the settlement proposal was put forward earlier this year.
What happens next in the Don 3 dispute?
With the reported FWICE non-cooperation directive now bringing the issue into the open, the disagreement between Ranveer Singh and Excel Entertainment appears to have moved beyond closed-door negotiations.
While neither side has issued an official public statement on the latest developments, the fallout surrounding Don 3 continues to attract attention across the Hindi film industry.
