Actor Ranveer Singh offered prayers at Mysuru’s Chamundeshwari Temple on Tuesday morning, a day after the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issued a non-cooperation directive against him following his exit from Farhan Akhtar’s Don 3. The move reportedly caused losses of around Rs 45 crore to the filmmaker.

The temple visit came after direction from the Karnataka High Court in the Kantara mimicry case. After Singh submitted a revised affidavit in April and offered an unconditional apology, the court observed that the matter was likely to be disposed of and ordered him to offer prayers at the Chamundeshwari Temple within four weeks.

The Dhurandhar actor complied with the order and offered special prayers to Goddess Chamundeshwari. His visit was largely kept secret. The actor was seen entering Mumbai airport early on Tuesday morning.

The actor arrived like any ordinary devotee, stood in the queue and had darshan of Goddess Chamundeshwari. He wore a mask up to the entrance of the sanctum and removed it before entering the inner shrine. He reportedly arrived empty-handed and offered special prayers to the deity.

The case stems from an incident at the closing ceremony of the International Film Festival of India in Goa on November 30, 2025, when Ranveer Singh imitated Kantara’s Daiva scene featuring the film’s director and lead actor Rishab Shetty. The video of the performance went viral on social media and drew strong backlash from sections of the Kannadiga community.

Ranveer Singh later addressed the criticism in an Instagram post and apologised for what he described as an oversight. He wrote, “My intention was to highlight Rishab’s incredible performance in the film. Actor to actor, I know how much it takes to perform that particular scene the way he did, for which he has my utmost admiration.” He added, “I have always deeply respected every culture, tradition, and belief in our country. If I’ve hurt anyone’s sentiments, I sincerely apologise.”

Following the controversy, Rishab Shetty indirectly addressed the row at an event. He said, “That makes me uncomfortable. While much of the film is cinema and performance, the Daiva element is sensitive and sacred. Wherever I go, I request people not to perform it on stage or mock it. It is emotionally deeply connected to us.”

In February, Ranveer Singh moved the Karnataka High Court for relief after an FIR was filed against him for allegedly hurting the sentiments of the Kannadiga community through the mimicry. At the time, the court directed the authorities not to take any coercive action against him.

Ranveer Singh’s visit to the temple also comes amid his standoff with FWICE over unresolved issues linked to Don 3. After the film workers’ body directed its members and technicians not to work with him until the matter reached a proper conclusion, Ranveer Singh responded through his spokesperson. The statement said, “While several narratives and speculations have surfaced over time, Ranveer has never considered it necessary to respond publicly or contribute to conjecture. His focus remains firmly on his work and the commitments ahead. He continues to hold deep respect and goodwill for all those involved and sincerely wishes the franchise continued success.”

The statement added that choosing restraint and grace in such moments had always been a conscious decision on his part, and that he would continue to maintain the same stance. With the temple visit now completed, the actor remains at the centre of both the Kantara case proceedings and the ongoing dispute with FWICE over Don 3.
