Tovino Thomas, Nazriya reveal new film title amid Barcelona vs Real Madrid clash
Malayalam actors Tovino Thomas and Nazriya Nazim unveiled Gracias El Clasico in Barcelona during El Clasico. The launch, which took place during the Barcelona vs Real Madrid football match, marks their first film together and promises a blend of love, family dynamics and football.
Actors Tovino Thomas and Nazriya Nazim unveiled the title of their upcoming Malayalam film, Gracias El Clasico, from Barcelona during Monday’s La Liga clash between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid. The makers revealed the title with a new poster while the two actors attended the match, sharing it simultaneously on social media.
Directed by Muhsin Parari, Gracias El Clasico marks the first on-screen collaboration between Tovino and Nazriya. The film also reunites Tovino with Muhsin after Thallumaala. The script has been co-written by Muhsin and Zakariya Mohammed, best known for Sudani from Nigeria.
The title launch during El Clasico immediately grabbed attention online, especially with football expected to play a prominent thematic role in the story. Ahead of the Barcelona vs Real Madrid clash, Tovino had also tagged Nazriya on social media, leading fans to speculate that an announcement was on the way.
Speaking recently about the film, Tovino described Gracias El Clasico as a relationship drama rooted in family dynamics. According to the actor, the story explores cousins, marriage, romance and the emotional realities that emerge after relationships move beyond the usual “happily ever after” phase.
He added that the film particularly focusses on the married lives of millennials and 90s kids, a space he feels Malayalam cinema has not explored extensively in recent years. Tovino also said Nazriya’s role carries equal importance in the narrative. “The film revolves around both characters and the people around them,” he said, describing it as a story centred on love and family relationships.
On the technical front, the film features cinematography by Vishnu Thandassery, editing by Bles Thomas and music by Sushin Shyam. It is produced by Saji Ali, Abbas Thirunavaya, Sameer Thahir and Shyju Khalid, while Pradeep CS and Shanir MK serve as co-producers.
With its football-themed launch in Barcelona and a story revolving around love, marriage and family, Gracias El Clasico has already generated strong curiosity among Malayalam cinema audiences.
