Shruti Haasan to turn writer for father Kamal Haasan's Hollywood film?
Unconfirmed reports say Kamal Haasan may headline a Hollywood film scripted by Shruti Haasan. The buzz has intensified as he returns from politics to a crowded film slate and recent US visits.

Actor-politician Kamal Haasan has wrapped up his extensive campaign for the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) for the recently concluded Tamil Nadu Assembly elections and is now set to return to his film commitments. The latest speculation around the veteran actor is that he could be preparing to headline a Hollywood film for the first time, with unconfirmed reports claiming that Shruti Haasan is set to write the project and is actively trying to get it greenlit.
While there has been no confirmation from either Kamal Haasan or Shruti Haasan, the reports have drawn attention because they come at a time when Kamal Haasan is lining up several major projects. He is backing Rajinikanth's Thalaivar 173, which is yet to go on floors, and is also set to reunite with Rajinikanth after four decades for KH x RK, directed by Nelson.
Shruti Haasan had earlier acted in the English film, The Eye, directed by Daphne Schmon and also featuring Mark Rowley in a key role. The current speculation suggests that her involvement in the rumoured international film with Kamal Haasan could extend to scripting, though the project remains unannounced.
There had earlier been reports that Kamal Haasan's trip to the United States was linked to KH 237, his proposed film with stunt director duo Anbariv, which has not received an update since late last year. However, the fresh round of rumours suggests that those travels may instead have been connected to Shruti Haasan's reported project. Even so, nothing has been officially confirmed by the actors.
Earlier, Kamal Haasan travelled to the United States to study Artificial Intelligence (AI) and examine its practical use in filmmaking. He enrolled in an AI course at an institution and completed a 45-day intensive term before returning to India. During the visit, he also went to the Perplexity AI headquarters in San Francisco, where he met chief executive officer Aravind Srinivas and held discussions on the way AI and emerging technologies are reshaping the creative arts.
Apart from these developments, Kamal Haasan is also part of Nag Ashwin's big-budget sequel to Kalki 2898 AD, which features Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan. Deepika Padukone will not be part of the second film. Reports suggest that Sai Pallavi has replaced her.
