Mega158: Chiranjeevi reunites with director Bobby Kolli, Pawan Kalyan attends launch
Chiranjeevi launched his 158th film with director Bobby Kolli at the mahurat ceremony. The launch on Thursday was attended by brothers Pawan Kalyan and Nagababu.
Tollywood actor Chiranjeevi officially launched his 158th film on Thursday, sharing glimpses from the mahurat ceremony of the project, tentatively titled #Mega158 and ChiruBobby2. Directed by Bobby Kolli, the film marks the duo’s reunion after Waltair Veerayya and was launched in the presence of family members, filmmakers and the film’s core team.
The ceremony, held on May 21, 2026, featured a traditional puja setup, the ceremonial clapboard and several members of the Telugu film industry in attendance. Pawan Kalyan and Nagababu attended the launch as chief guests.
Sharing pictures from the event on social media, Chiranjeevi thanked Pawan Kalyan, whom he fondly referred to as “Kalyan Babu”, for attending the ceremony and giving the clap for the film’s opening shot. He also recalled an emotional memory from three decades ago, noting how their roles had once been reversed when he had extended support to his younger brother during the early years of his career.

At the event, Pawan Kalyan sounded the clapboard while Sushmita Konidela switched on the camera. Director V V Vinayak directed the first shot. Veteran filmmakers B. Gopal and A Kodandarami Reddy, along with Nagababu, handed over the script to the makers.
Several directors and producers from the Telugu film industry were also present at the launch, alongside producer Venkat K Narayana and the team from KVN Productions. The banner is making its Telugu debut with the project after backing films across Kannada, Tamil and Hindi cinema.

About #Mega158
The makers have also finalised actor Anaswara Rajan for a key role in the film. Bobby Kolli has mounted the project on a larger scale this time, with the film expected to feature high-voltage drama and an intense character arc for Chiranjeevi. The actor’s recent gym workout video had already sparked conversation around his look and preparation for the role.
The film’s music will be composed by S Thaman, while cinematography will be handled by Vijay Kartik Kannan. Avinash Kolla has been roped in as production designer.
The screenplay has been written by Kona Venkat and K Chakravarthy Reddy, with additional screenplay support from Hari Mohana Krishna and Vineeth Potluri. Dialogues are being penned by Bhanu–Nandu.
The film’s regular shoot is scheduled to begin in Hyderabad on Friday, a day after its formal launch.
